Before 2024, I had a little teaching experience. I worked for 5 months in a local primary school as a teachers assistant. When I quit, I never expected I would be metaphorically promoted to teacher! Or as I prefer, French Coach.

Full time, I'm an indie author (pen name Lily O. Laverick) but writing about my imaginary friends getting hurt doesn't pay bills, unfortunately, yet.

So, while part-timing at a tea room, after being repeatedly asked if I would teach people French, I caved. I created a Facebook group, asked around, and soon I had my first meeting in said tea-room on a Wednesday afternoon.

I did not expect to have eight of us in that small room. I was so nervous, shaking and sick to my stomach but I did it.

I had them introduce themselves in as much French as they could. Now I have around twenty members in my in-person group (some consistent, some coming and going).

Once home from that first session, the idea of a YouTube channel became a reality. I took my phone and notebook into the conservatory and just started talking to the camera. That became the video just below...
